Mike,

I'm not sure if it's possible to link an LU to a specific printer.
Within NRJE's configuration, you specify a device class - usually LP -
device number or 'FORMID' for NRJE's logical writer and a default
output priority. You can use the FORMID table to direct certain output
from the IBM to a specific printer, complete with priority, environment
file specs, etc. NRJE defaults to "STD" as the Host Standard Print
Form Name (you may set it to whatever your environment dictates), and
the FORMID table handles any other form name specs. Here's a sample of
ours:

0001    ;DEV=LJET1,7                    <=== may be a printer ...
2300    ;DEV=LJET1,7;ENV=LJ132.ENV.SYS
CLMS    =CLAIMS.<grp>.<acct>            <=== ... or a disk file
EN01    ;DEV=LJET5,8;ENV=LJ132.ENV.SYS
TEST    =RDJ.NRJE.SYS

(the "<grp>.<acct>" keeps our internal auditors happy ;)

Hope this helps.

Subject: SNA NRJE/iX Question

Hi all,
Soon we will be upgrading our Series 70 to a 937, and with it, our
BSC/MRJE to SNA/NRJE. Looking through the SNA Link/iX Node Managers Guide
(the only SNA manual I've received so far), it looks like you are
configuring an emulated IBM terminal controller complete with LUID's
(Logical Unit ID's). If this is actually emulating an IBM controller, can
I assign a LU to a MPE LDev?

What I would like to do is... We have some programs on the mainframe
that, instead of spooling their output to JES (which sends it down to us
on our remote line to MRJE), write their output to a specific LUID on our
IBM Controller to which a printer is attached. If I can associate a LU in
NRJE to a HP LDev, this output could be sent to one of the printers
attached to the 3000 without having to change the host program (other than
setting the proper PU/LU).

Is this possible?

Thanks,
-Mike-
