Greg,

Assuming that you are using a JetDirect card or device on a network
printer, the two systems (the 3000 and NT) would print independently to
the printer - 3000 print does not route through NT to get to the JetDirect
device.

The device gets it's own IP address, and it's entered into the NPCONFIG
file along with the LDEV. When the 3000 attempts to print to this device,
it determines whether it is busy or not, and if so, will hold the job and
retry until it gets the device.

NT printing to the device, would use NPD, and essentially does the same
thing. It will check the device, and if busy, hold the job until it's
free.

So basically, all you need to do is configure the JetDirect device with
it's IP, set up the 3000 to print to it, set up the NT server to print to
it with PrintManager (3.51) or the Printer in the Printers folder (select
the properties), and they will compete for the JetDirect device. This is
how I've set them up in the past, and they work quite nicely this way.

Best,
Joe
