I have a problem with SambaIX 0.7c on MPE5.5:

First I have created a directory in posix /SAMBA/SHR named bianca, edit the
smb.conf to add this share and finally I have mapped this directory in the
W95-Explorer. After copying some files, directories and subdirectories to
this share from my PC with the Explorer, I get the problem, that I can't
remove the directories and subdirectories. I tried it on the posix shell
with the rm -r command as manager.sys but permissions are denied. What is
the reason? Can anyone help me? [...]46_26Apr199913:47:[log in to unmask]

Tony,

I do not have HP insider knowledge but
* APACHE (and not Netscape Fasttrack) will be shipped with MPE/iX 6.0 and
also supported, as far as I understand the communications arround this
subject,
* APACHE is widely used on different platforms and has a good support on
the web,
* ODBC and other methods for data warehousing and e-commerce are available
for HP3000's as well (but not all for free),
* MPE/iX is not a dead end!
And I fully agree that it's better to access the original data (in a safe
manner) than to extract data to a Micro$oft NT or whatever machine -
nothing is older than an data extract of a live system!

I added the HP3000 newsgroup to my reply although send privately - there
may be other opinions or better knowledge on this subject.

Best regards, Andreas Schmidt, CSC, Germany

Hello Andreas,
Thanx for the information. I feel confident with
installing and testing the software now. We are
wanting to view several basic reports, and I think it
will work well for that, but what about using it for
full blown company wide e-commerce. I've heard that
the 3000 makes a bad web server from several people
but hey haven't provided any details as to why. It
seems like it would be easier to display reports on
the same machine that created them as opposed to
FTP'ing them to a $Mickysoft machine running a web
server. It also seems like HP wouldn't take the time
to support Apache if it wasn't going to be a viable
web server alternative. Is there some insider
information that everyone else knows but me?
Is my view too simplistic?
Thanx again,
