I can't see how going from three 9gb external drives to a mod20 with 8 luns
would result in a noticeable performance degradation - all other things
having remained the same.

Did the FWSCSI connectivity remain the same?

Were the original external drives connected to a single FWSSCI card or
single SE-SCSI card or ???

In general, unless you have a very specific I/O intensive application, it
would be difficult for your 918 to bottleneck on your disk i/o without
first exhausting your CPU resources - even if only attached to a single
SCSI card.

Something appears to be amiss here.

However, as others have pointed out, it would be best to forgo your 100mb
lan card in order to enable your mod20 to utilize two FWSCSI cards.

At least it wouldn't hurt.
