If one uses logging, the logfiles should be placed in a group/account that
resides
on a different volume set. In this manner if the volume set that contains the
database is lost, the logfiles are available to assist with recovery. And
if the
volume set containing the logfiles is lost at least the database should be
fully
intact. Once the volume set is repaired and back-up, simply setup another
sync
point and restart logging to continue. If one is relying on logging for
recovery
purposes and has not separated the logfiles from the database at the volume
set
level, then they run the risk that this logging effort may not help in any
type
of recovery.
