Do you use VESOFT?? Security/3000 (STREAMX) has this type of
functionallity. We use it here and it's great!!!
If this is the way you want to go, I can help you get through this stuff.

Subject: Using MPE to authenticate users for Autobahn Applications
Thank you to all who have responded.
The method I had devised (but not implimented) would attempt to stream a
job using the supplied Username and Password. Then check HPCIERR to see
if the job launched successfully. I've just learned that this is the
method used by Speedware when they wish to authenticate a user on the Hp
3000.
This method will run into problems dependant upon the job limit and the
current job fence, with virtually no way of detecting this failure.
Another method suggested to me by Patrick Fioravanti is for the running
batch job that provides Speedware Resource Management services to have AM
capability. Then perform a :LISTUSER;PASS. Pipe the output to a file and
examine the contents of the file. This method should work fine for my
purposes... but I'm always willing to listen.
Thanks again,
Jim
