Although counter-intuitive, you may want to try to configure your 100MB network card to use auto-negotiation.

This may or may not require you to set the corresponding switch port to use auto-negotiation.

I've found that this setting works with some switches better than others.

This configuration is done via NMMGR, NS, UnguidedConfig,GoToLink then modify the appropriate link name.
