I'm having intermittent problems printing to a LaserJet 4si using an
internal JetDirect Card from a 967sx. The problem appears sometimes when
we print a long report (100 to 200 pages). The report stops somewhere in
the middle and restarts from the beginning. It may do this a few times
before the report actually finishes completely.

The route from the 3000 to the printer is a follows:
ThinLan to a 10BaseT Converter
to a 3com LanPlex 2500 Switch
to a 3com Hub
to another 3com hub via Fiber (500 feet)
to the JetDirect Card

I have pinged it (was punged ???) from the 3000 with the following
results:
1000 pings, 1024 bytes, no lost packets
Min 7ms, Ave 10ms, Max 232ms

I tried to ping with 2048 bytes, but never get a reply ??????
I tried 2048 byte to other JetDirect cards, also with no reply.

I have tried printing to a closer printer (does not hit the fiber) and
the few tests I did were OK.

I have seen the following message several times on my console, but can
not try it to a error on the printer:

** NS/3000 NetIPC ERROR IN VT; Job: 0; PIN: 338; Info: 1
 - Error: 42;

I sent a special forms message to the printer and the PIN does not match
the above, so they may not be related. This is the only printer we use
from the 967 to the JetDirect except for a few tests.

The NPConfig file is as follows:
global  (setup_file=reset.setup
         banner_header = FALSE
         banner_trailer = FALSE)

50      (network_address = 192.168.115.205)
51      (network_address = 192.168.115.207)
52      (network_address = 192.168.115.206)
53      (network_address = 192.168.115.202)

I have not yet tried HP Support, but may soon.

I am only receiving this list in Digest format, so if you could reply to
both me and the list I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in Advance
Steve Murphy
