Barry,
I assume you are talking about an optical disk attached to the network
through ADSM. Typically ADSM technology has an NFS interface. You should
be able to make the device look like a regular disk drive to the HP 3000.
Then NFS/iX could mount the device and the HP 3000 would have access to the
files.

In order to find out which Quest products are licensed on your system type:
run demoext.pub.netbase,verify

Can Netbase NFS be used to in conjunction with ADSM to back up an MPE
system?
Also, we do own Netbase (we were doing shadowing but are no longer) how can
we
tell if we own NFS?

Thanks in advance,

Barry Durand

Please note that Baton Rouge and surrounding areas now have a
new area code. It is 225. When calling Baton Rouge please use
225 instead of 504.

Lee,
You are not crazy, and thanks for the plug!

NetBase NFS is a high-performance implementation of Network File System for
either POSIX or MPE XL, that provides transparent access to remote file
systems. Our Server version maps a UNIX file system onto the MPE XL or
POSIX file system, making an HP3000 look exactly like a UNIX file system.
Our Client version is a network services product that enables your HP 3000
computer to share files with other nodes on the same local area network.

Doesn't Quest Software sell an NFS client for MPE/iX, or am I the one who's
confused?
