For one of two reasons:

   1) the speaker doesn't want his/her income known to the world ...
tough...speaking for money is a high-profile, readily visible
      business.

   2) the conference/group/people hiring the speaker doesn't want
the attendees/group-members/fellow-people to know how much was
being spent because too much is being spent.

Can you imagine a co-owner of a company not being told (if they wish to
know), how much money a consultant hired by one of the other owners
is being paid? And that's what we are...co-owners!

I did ... by posting to HP3000-L :)

I don't recall addressing my post to Denys! (And, in fact, located my original
post about speaker costs...it wasn't addressed to any individual)

Denys may have chosen to reply, but that's his perogative.

I'm just encouraging Interex to be more open with the users who make up the
user group.
