Wilson,

It sounds like doing an install would accomplish what you want. The SLT will bring the system back to the original OS and configuration, and the full backup will bring all the files back to where you were before you started.

The install process wipes the drives clean; better safe than sorry -- get yourself two good SLT's and two full backups (my personal preference, but your system size and time constraints could limit you to one -- but at least verify that puppy!).

I am thinking about updating our development system to MPE/iX 6.0 and what
may happen if I need to back it out to go back to MPE/iX 5.5 Powerpatch 4.
The backdating instructions look pretty straight forward but I have heard
mixed results with backdating. Would doing an "install" accomplish the same
thing as long as I have a current SLT and a good full backup of the system?
I realize that it would take considerably longer but I feel more confident
with doing this rather than trying to piece the system back to it's current
level especially since many patches have been added.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

wilson
