With *no* budget at all, I would expect that neither 3rd party support
nor hp support nor migration to an hp or non-hp platform is an option.

They could, for example, have asked him to check the A400 status display
by typing VFP for "virtual front panel" at the Ctrl-B prompt (GSP) to get
an idea about the state of the system (eg low level halt or system abort)
and then probably suggest to take a memory dump or at least SAT trace to
get an idea of the last process on the CPU (dptree pin; trace,i,d). These
pieces of information might help to see if the issue at hand looks like
something that might have been fixed in a software patch that was not yet
part of 7.0 PowerPatch 1 (which Matthew mentioned in his posting).
