Anyone want to hire an ex-HP3000 programmer, Image DBA, Performance &
capacity planner with more recent HP-UX, Linux system admin skills, some
solid networking knowledge, and six years of supervisory experience?

How can you, along with several other programmers who've posted a recent note asking for a job, be unemployed? I have seen over a dozen HP3K programmer jobs out on monster and careerbuilder lately. Are you not willing to relocate? That's about the only HP3K opportunity left on the market..

I got into the "silo" of being an HP3K system admin many years ago and have almost no Cobol programming (lot of JCL but so what). That really makes it tough for me because today's employers want admins with background on all platforms, not just 3K. I do have some HP-UX, but no Linux. So here I sit for 4 months collecting unemployment still sending my resume from the Atlantic to the Pacific (and willing to relocate).

I don't blame the guy who replaced me (I was a contractor) but I'm sure it was your Linux experience that persuaded them to hire you perm. Hope all is well with you and your family.

Wes
