Jim,

File system error 56 is "Invalid device specification" DBUNLOAD by default
will unload to device class TAPE. Is it possible that you don't have any
devices in class TAPE?

   :SHOWDEV TAPE

Also, why are you using DBUNLOAD to extract the data. There are probably a
dozen other/better ways to accomplish your task. If you supply a bit more
information to the list I'm sure you will get some good ideas.
