What about increasing the default snmp_timeout value or disabling SNMP all together
with "snmp_enabled=FALSE" for this printer?

From NPSAMP2.PUB.SYS:

# We use the default values of the following items for local printers:
#     poll_interval_max = poll_interval = 10 seconds
#     data_timeout = 10 seconds
#     snmp_enabled = true
#     snmp_timeout = 5 seconds
#     snmp_max_retries = 3
#     SNMP_get_community_name         [none]
#
# The values used for remote printers depend on their network "distance", and
# are specified in their respective LDEV-specific entries.

300 (network_address = 10.25.109.161         # Remote text/PCL printer.
     setup_file = LJPORTRT.HPENV.SYS         # Portrait mode, etc., setup file.
     poll_interval_max = 120                 # Poll_interval decays to 2 min.
     data_timeout = 20                       # Allow for busy network.
     snmp_timeout = 20                       # Same network, same timeout.
     snmp_max_retries = 1                    # Only give it one chance.
     message_interval = 1)
