I received this private message:

>Thanks for taking the lead on this to SIGIMAGE. I'm out of my software
>days and more into hardware and networking so I'm not a member of
>SIGIMAGE.

I then began to wonder how many people are in a similar situation. It
turns out that IMAGE databases are at the core of most HP3000 applications
(including those applications that are "hardware and networking" oriented,
because, most of the time, the networking is there so that people can
access IMAGE databases THROUGH the network). In fact, the FTP enhancement
request ("Can you FTP a database?") has many "hardware and networking"
people as its strongest backers.

The question is: How do you become a member of SIGIMAGE? The answer is
very simple:

Please send a message with your name, company name, postal address,
e-mail address (and whatever) to the SIGIMAGE Chairman, Ken Sletten:

        [log in to unmask]

You will receive the SIGIMAGE Newsletter (printed and distributed as a
courtesy of INTEREX). You will have the opportunity to vote on SIGIMAGE's
enhancement-request ballot. And you will have other benefits that I may
have forgotten and that Ken Sletten might want to mention. Ken might also
want to expand (or contract) on the "requirements" that you are supposed to
send him for you to be included in the SIGIMAGE membership.

You do NOT have to be a member of INTEREX. In the spirit of TRUE open
systems, SIGIMAGE is open to anyone with an interest in IMAGE/3000,
TurboIMAGE, or IMAGE/SQL databases.
