I have been seeing messages concerning the support of DLT subsystems on
the HP3000, and how to effectively back-up HP3000's with large disk
configurations.

I don't know if this information has already beed disseminated. On
October 23, 1996 HP held an audio conference about new enhancements for
the HP3000. The major points of the conference is that the HP3000 now
(as of November) supports new mass storage management devices. These
devices include:

Digital Linear Tape offering 20-40GB on a single tape

New DDS-3 DAT drive offering 12-24GB on a single tape

Expanded support for the High-Availability On-line
        Storage subsystems.

I don't know if this is of any use but I thought I would put this out
there anyway.
