i wish i had something helpful to tell matthew....<sigh>

however -- for all you that are planning on homesteading *this* is the sort
of thing that you've got to be prepared for! i can't stress enough the
impact the decision to homestead may (and probably will) have on your
business. for many, your environment is such that you'll never see
something like the above. but are you prepared for hardware failures? or
other (s/w?) catastrophes? what happens when even the 3rd-party h/w vendors
can't find a <whatever it is that just died> for you....at any price?

i'm not trying to discourage the homesteaders -- really! but it's easy to
say "we're homesteading" -- two (maybe three :-) words, four syllables --
but more than tough to accomplish. you've *really* got to weigh the impact
of your decision and be prepared for <whatever>. i know at my shop,
inadequate preparation is frequently viewed as a 'career threatening
move'..... - d

Come, my friends, 'Tis not too late to seek a newer world.
Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are.
