If anyone has a copy of the original VIEW/3000 manual,
look in the back to see the worst COBOL program ever written
-- GO TOs up and down, meaningless variable names,
and virtually no COMMENTs. It's amazing that HP, a computer company,
would use this as an example of how to write programs.
In a business environment, programs should be written for
maintainability. Cryptic code is for selfish hackers.
VIEW also used the 2 worst features of the HP 3000, block mode
and KSAM.
It is because of these deficiencies that almost all HP 3000 shops
develop their screens in QUICK or SPEEDWARE.
