As a hoax, it's pretty well done, but you really have to think about Sadaam Husein buying up all those PlayStation 2 games.

A much better hoax was the GPF bunny. At least they had doctored pictures of a bunny glowing green from jellyfish genes and articles planted in strategic places in normally creditable news sources (though they were all written by Amanda Onion). I e-mailed a professor who supposedly made comment on the bunny and his reaction was, Say What? I don't know a thing about it. Yes, the lab exists. The scientist exists (though no mention of the GPF Bunny was found on the official web site), but unfortunately I could not get his e-mail address. Anyone taking bets on what he would say?

These are great uban ledgends and we should respect them as such.

I wish I had thought them up--my one goal in life before I die is to create a really good urban legend that will live on after me and also is totally original. Maybe something to do with ATM Voting machines.

These sorts of things keep on glowing, and glowing, and glowing....

How do you know it is satire, and not just a hoax?

(I sense endless-loop coming on.)

It's satire. And how they know the secret is a secret.

Jim Phillips quoted:

>A secret Defense Intelligence Agency report states that as many as 4,000 of
>the popular video game units have been purchased in the United States and
>shipped to Iraq in the last two to three months.

If the report is a secret, how did they know?
