We startled our Novell guy the other day. The power went out on one side of
the computer room (they are "upgrading" the power in our building). The
battery backup kicked in. Twenty minutes later we're up and cooking - no
VREPAIR, no reloading of NLMs, no re-mirroring. Just go. No corrupt
databases, no marginal files. He looked so astounded that I had to tell him
that during our year-end full backup one of the UPSs blew, which had 3 SCSIs
for the 957 plugged into it. The most that happened was a "LDEV 15 NOT
READY" on the console. I plugged them in elsewhere, no problem.
I love telling those stories to the non-3000 world. Too much, I'm sure.
Too smug, too much of a UNIX -basher.
