Are any of these files UDC files? If so, then merely being logged in will
lock them. The solution would be to unsetcatalog them, then log back in,
perform the back, then resetcatalog them.

Subject: Help - Can't Restore Files

        Hi,

We have a processor located remotely at one of our colleges who we
send
installation tapes to with our home grown software that can no
longer
restore files. Every file that already exists on the system comes
back with
a "File Not Restored: Disc File In Use, Cannot Purge" error. If
the file
does not exist, the file will restore. Nothing is running and no
one is
logged on except for the operator when they try and do the restore.
I have
an open call with the Response Center with no solution yet. They
already
had me run a job that turned all the store bits off which would have
been
the obvious answer but it wasn't. They have escalated this to
another team
but have not found the problem yet either. Purging each file that
we want
to restore manually is a workaround but not too realistic. Help!!!
We need
to restore some files soon :).

Thanks in advance for everyone's help.

        Wilson
