As best as I can remember, HP referred to anything that they manufactured
or OEMed as "discs", at least until they got into the PC market when the
inevitable floppy "disk" came on the scene, and led itself to evolving
to a "hard disk". But still everything coming from the old DMD in Boise
still referred to "discs".

They referred to anything in the 9000 world as "disks" and are only
fairly recently starting to refer to 3000 things as "disks".

But perhaps someone has a more definitive answer, I'm just guessing :-)
