I use WordPad instead of Notepad for this. WordPad does not seem to have the
problems with MPE bytestream files (with only LF) that Notepad does. For our
'tobyte'-converted backup listings, I created them with a .LIST which I then
associated with WordPad, without being too concerned that some other Windows
app is going to want to use .LIST for something else. There are of course
other 'tricks' for achieving this association, and I trust that others will
reply recommending other editors and other solutions. HTH.

Do you know on hp3000/posix a tool equivalent to "unix2dos" to convert
hp3000/posix files (with only lf) to dos files (with cr/lf), so that pc
tools like notepad can read correctly(via samba/ix) ascii files generated on
hp3000/posix.
