Printronix printer & network printing

I am trying to configure a Printronix P5215 to work with network printing.
It is attached using a JetDirect box on the paralell port.  Since this
printer didn't come from HP, it doesn't know about PCL codes (apparently).
I used an empty setup_file, but when data is printed the spooler still sends
a bunch of PCL codes that the printer doesn't know what to do with.

Anbody had luck with a true Printronix printer?
