Why is it so "automatic" that changing to a job where an HP3000 isn't on
site [or losing the HP3000 without losing the job] that one feels he must
"sign off" of this list?

You have 16+ years of experience on the 3000 -- don't let the fact you don't
have a living breathing machine right in front of you deny that experience
to some up-n-coming HP3000 user -- who knows, they may have 16+ years of
experience on the computer system you are GOING to! Besides, you've seen
how "off topic" the posts can be around here, you could post a question here
about something that is frustrating you "because you know the 3k can do it
SOOOOO easily", and that "new" hp user (who knows what hell you're entering)
might post the answer you're looking for [especially if you managed to help
him the week before on something equally obscure to a new HP3000 user]
