An autoraid can survive the loss of two disks, but not three. I’ve been there, but I did have a tape backup to restore from.

You will need to wipe the whole thing clean before any reinstall. You should be able to find the manual for the autoraid online, and wiping it is a single command.

I had this stuff at my fingertips, but the work laptop it was on defied all my attempts to make a home copy of anything I couldn’t email out to myself 😢

The cartridges for the H12 look pretty specialist, and cost a bit, but if you disassemble them, you will find a fairly ordinary, and easily obtainable, hard drive of quite modern construction inside. If this is what has failed, and it usually is that rather than anything in the cartridge itself, getting them going again should be quite cheap and easy.

We never did this ourselves, as our hardware support company did like-for-like cartridge swaps, but we know they would replace the drive inside, and put the fixed cartridge back in inventory.

Good luck with it!

Roy
