Terry,

Let me put it this way; If CSY decides that MPE is *not* to
be open sourced, then I think the whole issue is moot. They
have not announced what they're planning on doing as of yet
(and to be honest they probably don't know yet), but they have
made some statements regarding what they will not do. I think
it would be wise to find out if they consider this proposition
to be included on that list.

Now does that preclude people from striking out on their own
without CSY's blessing? Not at all. It's just that many of
the people that have worked with the source code in the past
may be prevented from helping in this endeavor without CSY's
blessing, and I would expect those are the people you really
want working on this project.

Michael,

I do not understand why CSY needs to approve anything beyond some copyright
issues. MPE/Linux is not based on any HP3000 source code. Could you
elaborate why you think CSY has to approve this approach?

Terry
