My company previously developed applications on the HP3000. We are now
considering selling the source code of one of the applications to one of the
clients. A couple of questions have arisen to which I would like to get
some feed back.

Our application was developed on an HP3000 Series 42/LX with MPE/V Release
G.1P.00 using TRANSACT/V Version 6.01 and TRANCOMP/V Version 8.04. My
client currently runs the application on an HP3000 Series 988 with the
MPE/iX Release C.55.00 operating system and TRANSACT and TRANCOMP Version
11.00 running in compatibility mode. My questions are:

1) Will there be any serious problems migrating the source code to now
compile under the new versions of TRANSACT (there are also newer versions of
the Dictionary and VPlus forms to consider)? Has there been major changes
in TRANSACT (e.g. more 'reserved words', changes in statement structure,
etc.) that would cause the code not to compile?

2) Our version of TRANCOMP comes with a 'optimizer' option. My client needs
to know if they will need to buy an upgrade for their version of TRANCOMP
(i.e. will not having the optimizer severely reduce the performance of the
applications).

Thanks in advance for any information list members can provide.
