Hi,
This is one reason Allegro created Rosetta STORE (which should have been
called Rosetta RESTORE :)

I found a tape image of a backup from 2005 with @[log in to unmask] on it.

I did:   rosetta -i the_tape_name.sd -r @[log in to unmask] -o temp -asciionly

and it restored and unpacked nicely (e.g., trimming trailing blanks, adding
newline characters) into
120 files of ASCII text.  Including SPACE.EBOOK.VECSL

Tarball of the 120 files is attached (probably stripped off for HP3000-L
recipients).
