I don't care if it is a violation of my Interex Membership Secret Oath. Here
are the posted results:

The measure carried 469 to 169.
To restate the results. It is official Interex has been stolen from the
membership. HPWORLD oughta be fun this year.

Subject: Results of Interex "Special Election"

To hp3000-L,
copy Interex BOD:

In Interex "Hot News" email received by me @ 14:55 today:

> In June, the Interex Board of Directors passed an amendment to the
> Bylaws changing the composition of the board. A ballot was sent to all
> members with a due date of July 30, 1999. The results of the special

????.... surely it is not a "state secret" to at *least* give the
pass / fail result of the election to the world.... hmmm....:
I'll do better than that: Cut / paste gist of the web page you get
to with the above URL, after logging in with membership number:
==========================================

RESULTS OF INTEREX SPECIAL ELECTION Posted August 5, 1999

Ballots for the Special Election were mailed on June 21, 1999 to
all paid members as of June 14, 1999. The independent auditor
received a total of 638 ballots representing 11% of the membership
(vs. 9.5% for the invalid 1999 Board election). The number voting
FOR the amendment was 469 or 73.5% of the total. The number
voting AGAINST the amendment was 169 or 26.5%.

Passage of the amendment results in two elected positions and three
appointed positions being open for the Year 2000 Board. Seven members have
declared their candidacy for election to that Board.
===========================================

sigh..... so about eight percent of the membership ended up
"approving" this major change in how the leadership of Interex
is determined..... fleeting recollections about uninformed
democracy being a dangerous thing come to mind... At least
for the moment, I refrain from additional comment....
