That's assuming that Reggie has file closes being logged, which is
unlikely. It makes for huge log files.

Yes, there is. Consult your system log files specifically looking for
file
closes for that specific file (types 105,205,305, 160) around the
time/date
you think the file went missing.

I recently discovered a file missing. Is there a way to figure out who
or what purged a file and will there be much overhead?
