We're in a bit of a frustrating spot here and if anyone has any advice, I'd be
glad to listen. We've been surviving much too long on a 947lx with 64 user
licenses. Our first idea was to pay HP more money and get more licenses for
our current box. The lady we contacted said that that was not an option. I'm
not sure I understand why, but I think it has to do with the 947's being such
an old box. We can't simply upgrade to a more current box with more licenses
because we can't afford to pay Cognos what they want for the upgrade (and no,
this is not an attempt to get another antiCognos thread going--save that for
another time). We've been trying for some time to get our hands on another
947lx with more licenses. They're not easy to find and the crackdown on the
alleged illegal activities of certain companies hasn't made it easier. We've
contemplated moving to a 928 and are researching what the third-party-software
companies will do to us if we go that route, but I figured it couldn't hurt to
ask you folks. Does anyone know if it is possible to talk HP into taking our
money and raising the user limit? Does anyone have a 947lx with more than 64
license which he would be willing to sell or donate to an educational
institution? Are there any other avenues I should be exploring?

Thanks in advance for any help y'all can give,
Ted
