IEM used to make an HPIB version of a DDS-I drive with data compression.
This would read and write tapes compatible with the HPC1504/HPC1521 SCSI
DDS-I drives. You might check with them to see if they still sell them. It
had some other nice features as well like the ability to turn off
compression via a menu on the front panel.
