Hmm..the "05" in "C.05.07" corresponds to *WHICH* "5" in "5.5"?
Christian says "long overdue"...I agree...and point out: NOT HERE YET!
If the core was "C.05.05", that would clearly correspond to "5.5".
Or, if the HP were to say "E.05.07" means "5.5 mod 7" (where the "E"
corresponds to the "5." since E is the fifth letter in the English alphabet),
that would also make sense.
Instead, we still have no obvious relationship between the name of the
release (5.5) and the VUF.
Last year, SIGSoftVend tried to correct this long standing problem. The
SIG formed a group of 4 or 5 people, to discuss this issue with HP. But,
by the time the SIG meeting came, I missed the group meeting (flu), and
HP sneakily stole one of the group members by hiring him! (Larry Boyd)
so...nothing ever came of it :(
