That's yet another option. If you had ESPUL you could print to anything
that could pretend to be an LPD printer (listening on port 515 I believe).
That would be a way to send pure text to the printer instead of PCL.

Seems to me I recall that ESPUL had options to make pc-attached printers act
as hp3000 spooled printers; though it may have required Reflection as the
terminal emulator on the user end?
