MBS has contractors at a number of different sites, including some who
work from home. Our list of editors of quite lengthy with everyone
seeming to have their own favorites. Of course we use most of the
common editors (EDITOR, QEDIT, QUAD, and vi) - but these have already
been mentioned. However, two that have found to be popular among some
of our folks are: HPEDIT and SpeedEdit.
HPEDIT because it is a 3K based editor that is "full-screen" with some
different functionality (although most who want full-screen, 3K access
use Qedit...).
SpeedEdit is gaining because of the ability to access COBOL and have it
understand HP COBOL syntax. We recently evaluated a number of these
pc-based editor products and ended up recommending SpeedEdit for Windows
to all of our remote (at-home) employees... (yes, even over QEdit for
Windows).
