How did they get it in to the paper so fast? Did they know about this ahead of time? Just wondering.......

Actually, it's two full pages facing each other in section A of the Detroit
News.

The left-hand side has large white letters on a black background saying
"Top Independent Proxy Advisor Backs HP/Compaq Merger".

The right-hand side is black letters on a white background, saying that ISS
"has recommended that its clients vote for the merger of HP and Compaq."

In bold type, all caps, it says "if you previously voted against the
mergert, you have every right to change your vote", and then lists some
phone numbers to call.

There is more text, but these were the main points of the ad.

Assuming this ad ran in newspapers in every large metropolitan area, it
must have cost HP a young fortune.
