Samba can write files to an MPE group without SM capability. Adding PM
capability to SMBD is enough, and combined with the "FORCE
USER=user.account" parameter can write to files in an MPE account outside of
Samba.
To write MPE named files instead of HFS files the file names must conform to
MPE naming conventions. Furthermore you must use a PC application that
allows you to save files with an ALL UPPERCASE NAME with no extension.
Notepad for instance will allow you to do this by enclosing the file name in
quotes when saving it. But notepad does not recognize a CR/LF as a record
delimiter which lessens its overall value.
