Stan, I'm not sure if this is what you were refering to, but I
started my professional career using a General Automation 1830 which
was a cross between an IBM 1130 and an IBM 1800.  IIRC, it could run
programs written for either box.

We went from there to an HP 3000 Series 30 in 1980, and have been on
a 3000 ever since.  (Good move on our part!)
