Jeff,

You do an admirable job - and if in your shoes, I would have done this a
long time ago. There's only so many hours in a day, and to attend to mail
bounces in the Listserv, which I'm sure is not in your *official* job
description at UTC (at least for HP3000-L) takes away from other things
you need to be doing at UTC (and people need to know this - you are
employed, after all).

The best way for people to alleviate this is this: If you're going on
vacation and will not be checking mail, go to digest mode or unsubscribe
temporarily (which is what I did last year). If you find problems in your
mail system, to get word to you somehow and I'm sure you would help out...
 I got very ill about a month and a half ago and didn't even open the
laptop - and forgot to handle this. I know bounces came from me because
the mailbox was full (and my belated apologies, Jeff, if this did occur).

<vent>
I handle mail for several domains and get a few bounces a day which are
not automated and I find it irritating. If it were over 100 --- that
would make me absolutely ballistic and maybe some "draconian measures" are
in order to get the message through to some people. (I know, if you don't
control DNS, then you can't be faulted - but you can call your ISP or Net
Admin and scream, b**ch and holler)...
</vent>

I hope that listers think about this (and most do), and help Jeff out...

Best Regards --- and Thanks Jeff, for a fine job...
Joe

PS: Jeff: Do you really have a social life? <g> - <no response needed -
said tounge in cheek>
