My experience with blank pages at the beginning was explained to me by HP in
this manner: When an LJ printer receives data, the internal pointer referring
to the current line/column location (i.e. top of form) is changed. If the
printer subsequently receives a page of data, the printer checks it's internal
pointer, and if not at 0,0 issues a page eject to guarantee top of form. The
pointer even changes if the data received contains only PCL commands to set the
printer environment, so a setup string at the beginning of a spool file results
in a blank page ejected before the data starts printing. I tried
(unsuccessfully) to use PCL commands to reset the line/column pointer back to
0,0 but without success. If anyone has figured out a way around, I would also
like to hear about it!

Has there been any word regarding the "blank page at the beginning" problem?
