You can try either:

LZW from Telamon - it has a version for MPE/iX and one for the PC. I
can't remember which web sites it's on - maybe someone else can chip
in here.

ZIP, which is a PKZIP-compatible archiver for the HP3000. Again, it
is available from some of the HP3k web sites, but I can't remember
where.

There are probably others, but I use these two and haven't found the
need for any others.
