You need to do a DISMOUNT <volname> in MPE/iX first.

Any remember the command to SCRATCH a Master?

I've been scratching a bunch of old disks on a
test machine.  

Members scratch easily because they come up as 
Loners but that pesky Master is always
"in invalid state for desired operation."

Same for Formatvol.
