Hit #1 [non-commercial] on google for "braille computer display" reveals

http://www.utoronto.ca/atrc/reference/tech/refbraille.html

which shows a picture of a device that looks like a keyboard, but with (at
most) two rows of buttons; the user has all the fingers on what would be the
spacebar of a typical keyboard. Interestingly, it is noted as being a serial
device, so I presume it could be easily hooked up to an HP3000 as a terminal.
[just to keep this marginally "on topic" for this list ;) ]

The second major hit is this:
http://www.ataccess.org/resources/atabook/s02/s02-05c.html
which shows the usage a little clearer

[hmmm.. speaking of "pain", this brings to mind "paper cuts"]
