check_recovery is no longer supported with make_tape_recovery or
make_net_recovery. It is still supported if you use make_recovery but, at
some point in time, make_recovery will go away. The command will still be
there but it will just be a wrapper that calls make_tape_recovery.

The -i option works differently in make_tape_recovery and make_recovery. In
make_recovery, -i forces the install from tape to stop and wait for user
intervention. The equivalent in make_tape_recovery is the -I option. In
make_tape_recovery, the -i option simply brings up a GUI/TUI to allow you to
select what you would like to include/exclude on the tape. If you don't use
the -i/-I option, after you boot from the tape, it will wait for about 10
seconds for you to press the ENTER key. If you press it, it goes into
interactive mode. If not, it will start restoring the system from tape.

If you didn't use the -i/-I option, you can boot from the tape, walk away,
and come back 1-2 hours later to, hopefully, a system loaded from the
recovery tape.

I don't believe that you can select a specific file to restore from tape.
You are able to do it, though, if you know the full path to the file:

1. Rewind the tape using the appropriate norewind device file: mt -f
/dev/rmt/0mn rew
2. Skip over the LIF file: mt -f /dev/rmt/0mn fsf 1
3. You're now at the start of the tar image. Tar off the file (for example,
/usr/bin/whatis): tar xvf /dev/rmt/0mn usr/bin/whatis
