This morning, I was going to respond to Doug's posting privately and say to
him that I only recommended DejaNews, rather than the all the archive
searches that he recommended, simply because of the recent comments about
cutting the feed to DejaNews, kinda rubbing salt in the wound :-).

Instead of responding privately now, let me say that before I began to write
anything to Doug, I went to DejaNews to dig up his comments. I was surprised
in just a few minutes to find two postings that were put onto the newsgroup
that never made it over to list directly. One was from Robert (Jambo97)
responding to subject of searching for FTP using COBOL, saying much the same
thing as Doug. The other was from Roy Brown responding to the "queues
explained in layman's terms."

Although I was sure that I had never seen either of those postings before, I
verified that neither had the HP3000-L archives. They're not there. If I
could find two HP3000-L missing posts in just a minute or two, there must be
many more that don't make it over from the newsgroup onto the list.
