Its not the mpg that counts in these cars, it's the smiles per mile. I have
a 300hp Porsche 928 V8 (1983) that does it for me....

Subject: [HP3000-L] OT: The new GTO - it can stir your memory

Hi all,

Test drove a 2005 Pontiac GTO. Nope, other than the GTO symbol,
there's nothing about the car that remotely resembles any GTO from the
past with respect to body style or interior. That said, make no mistake
about it - the 2005 GTO is awesome to drive! Yeeeehaaaa! Yessireee
bub, I highly recommend that you try the 6 speed manual, and if
possible, a winding road in some hills somewhere! I mean to tell you,
the 400 horses (and 400?? Torque) will bring back memories of what the
U.S. muscle cars of the past were, and even better, this car can turn
and stop, too!!

The whole time we were driving to the dealership, my wife just
nagged at me about test driving "something like that". I let her give
the car a whirl (after we got well away from city traffic), and I wished
I would've had a movie camera - she just couldn't help but grin from
ear-to-ear by the time she got out of second gear!

Anyway, it's good to see the U.S. auto makers putting beefy V8's
out again (BTW, the GTO is actually produced in Australia). There's
just nothing replacement for sheer muscle.

And no, my wife didn't let me buy the car. :-(

Have a great week (and Happy New Year!).

Life is not a journey to the grave with the
intention of arriving safely in a pretty and
well preserved body, but rather to skid in
broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out,
and loudly proclaiming:
-- WOW!!! What a Ride
