Hello Friends:

What am I doing posting an OT? Just five minutes, and I've got the
stopwatch going:

An item from the Wall Street Journal today, which invokes the
opinions of the Cato Institute, Washington Monthly, and three-term
Republican congressman Joe Scarborough (only one just-to-the-left
source among that quartet):

"Conservatism traditionally was a philosophy of smaller government.
In the Bush years, it appears it isn't," says David Boaz, executive
vice president of the Cato Institute, a libertarian think tank.

Washington Monthly this month published a collection of essays,
titled "Time For Us To Go," by conservatives on the theme that
Republicans have so lost their way they would be better off losing
their majorities as well.

In his essay, former congressman and now television talk-show host
Joe Scarborough recalls the moment a magazine representative called
and "meekly" asked if he would consider writing an article about why
"Republicans should get their brains beaten in this fall. 'Count me
in!' was my chipper response," he says.

Oops. There's my timer going off!
