Computer Services Manager

Community Colleges of Spokane, a multi-college district, is inviting
applications for a Computer Services Manager responsible for the
management of computer operations and host computer functions, systems
review and consulting, facilities management, development of standards
and policies, contract negotiation, vendor management, and
strategic/tactical planning.
 
Position Responsibilities: Manage computer center staff and operations
functions, perform system management and administration functions;
perform operating system upgrades and patches to host computer systems;
perform host operating systems commands; support the installation,
configuration, and maintenance of host peripherals; support existing
systems and interface with other programmers and analysts in the
support of new or existing systems; perform basic programming and
database systems development functions; determine the requirements for
new application systems; oversee and support the design, planning, and
implementation for new services; provide support and backup duties for
WAN; serve as principal authority on decisions altering the normal
means of operation; consult with departmental administration, staff,
other agencies, and industry in developing new and improved management
procedures, and represent the computing service organization and/or the
institution in inter-intra institutional committees.
 
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science or an
allied field from an accredited college or university, five years of
related computer management and technical experience; working with
HP3000 systems including knowledge of MPE/iX operating systems commands
and system management experience; be proficient in the use of PC
hardware and software.
 
Terms: This is a full-time professional exempt position with an annual
salary of $45,000.  Position is dependent upon State of WA funding.
Anticipating date of employment is April 1995.

knowledge of Bradmark's DBGeneral to manage Image databases, (2)
experience with client/server technologies and HP's Allbase SQL
database systems, (3) programming experience in Protos and HP's
Transact or more current fourth generation development tools, (4)
experience installing and maintaining 802.3 ethernet WANs, (5)
experience with Vesoft's Security/3000 and (6) experience administering
HP's OpenDesk.
